It's clear that Oprah has the Midas touch, and there's actually a term that can be used to describe the effect that she has on businesses: the Oprah effect. It basically means that whenever Oprah endorses something, whether it be a product or a book, everybody goes out to buy it the next day. This is the reason why her book club was known for turning little-known books into best-sellers. And the Oprah effect doesn't just extend to products, it also changes lives. The greatest thing that Oprah has invested her money into is her Leadership Academy for Girls in Africa. This boarding school accepts girls from impoverished areas and gives them access to an education that would not have been possible without Oprah.
