We’ve got PCs to play games and go into virtual worlds. There are the ever popular consoles, from the Playstation 4 to the Xbox One to the Nintendo Wii. Then there are event the array of smart televisions which can stream nearly everything and even have their own apps for music and games. Yes, there are quite a few ways we can avoid going outside. But what was the grandfather of them all? Well, that was the VCR. When it arrived in homes in the very late 1970s and early 1980s, the Betamax and VHS players revolutionized home entertainment. We could watch movies from the comfort of our own home and then rewind them and watch all over again. As an added bonus, you could also pause your movie if you needed to head to the bathroom or grab a drink. That meant no more missed scenes. The pause button also had another added bonus that more and more people started to use. In fact, even today with Bluray discs and streamed content, the pause feature is for more than just making sure you don’t miss a scene. You know what we mean. That incredible action scene?
